WhatsApp Security Flaw: now hackers can alter senders & Messages

WhatsApp Security Flaw

+WhatsApp is facing a lot of problems nowadays. The company is trying its best to combat the false news by introducing different new features like message forward limitation, label to forwarded messages etc. We have a sad news for the WhatsApp users.

Recently, Israeli cybersecurity firm Check Point Software Technologies has found a flaw in WhatsApp that could allow hackers to modify and send fake messages to individuals and groups in the popular social messaging app. This new flaw in WhatsAppcan make it more prone to hacking.

WhatsApp told the NYT that it was not aware of the technique being used in the wild, and a cure would be worse than the problem.

One solution would be to create transcripts of every message exchange to verify the accuracy of every quote. Creating such a transcript is a significant privacy risk because those accounts of what people wrote to each other must be stored somewhere, the company said.

While discussing the issue, WhatsApp further added that:

“We carefully reviewed this issue and it’s the equivalent of altering an e-mail to make it look like something a person never wrote. This claim has nothing to do with the security of end-to-end encryption, which ensures only the sender and recipient can read messages sent on WhatsApp.”
